Plant trees with your 'net searches, using Ecocho.
From the Courier-Mail:
The website, ecocho.com.au, generates positive environmental gains by sponsoring the growth of up to two trees for every 1000 searches users make through popular technology, Yahoo and Google.
The founder of ecocho, Tim Macdonald said there would be a significant contribution to lowering greenhouse gases if the site could harness just one per cent of the 8000 million internet searches a month.
"Ecocho.com.au is a free service that doesn't alter or slow your search results, plus users can choose between technology they know and trust like Yahoo and Google," he said.
(They pay for the trees with ads on the site.)
GoFinditNow is also a great green search engine. It features a black background that saves up to fifteen watts on a CRT monitor, (about half that on non CRT monitors) and website hosting energy is offset by wind energy credits.
