One of the things that most irked me about the production of last night's Oscar show was, in their desire to make things move swiftly, they removed one of my favorite parts - the little clips that accompany each Oscar-nominated short film (live-action and animated). Instead we saw the filmmakers in the audience, which is fine, but without a clip representing their work. Even a soundless visual for a few seconds can help drive up interest in each film. Most of us haven't yet had the benefit of seeing these terrific shorts, which usually hit a few film festivals, with a few eventually making it to a compilation video. Anyway, I missed those teaser clips.
But, meanwhile, you can see the winner of the best live action short Oscar, Wasp, online.
