I've launched a new blog on progressive politics and on news of interest to me, and my occasional ruminations on such small matters as the state of our society, and as a way to keep this blog more focused on film and writing. But hopefully you'll drop by both places depending on your mood. Here's my announcement:
I've launched this blog as a place to ruminate on the issues of today, as we lead up to the 2008 Presidential election, and issues that go beyond that as well. While it promises to have a "progressive" bent (and I don't use the word "liberal" any longer because I believe it's lost its meaning and place, just as the word "conservative" has been sullied by those who shame the more intriguing ideas of classical conservatism), and while I hope to have us here move beyond the usual vitriolic back and forth seen too often today, I won't deny that this site will reflect my own progressive beliefs.
However, I do welcome comments from all sides here, if anyone feels so moved. But I only ask that such comments remain friendly in tone. I have as much patience for hate speech and flame wars in blog comments as I do for spam, so, in a word, don't.
Lastly, I will have guest posters contributing here when the opportunity arises. No, this will not turn into the Huffington Post, but I do hope to have a variety of voices adding to the mix here.
Some of you may even be getting a note from me soon about this last point. Meanwhile, enjoy.
