WGA nominations announced [via Variety:]
Opting for a mix of mainstream and speacialty titles, members of the Writers Guild of America have nominated John Gatins for "Flight," Rian Johnson for "Looper," Paul Thomas Anderson for "The Master,"Wes Anderson and Roman Coppola for "Moonrise Kingdom" and Mark Boal for "Zero Dark Thirty" for the guild's original screenplay award.Noms for adapted screenplay went to "Argo," "Life of Pi," "Lincoln,""Silver Linings Playbook" and "Perks of Being a Wallflower."
Noms for adaptations include Chris Terrio's "Argo," David Magee's "Life of Pi," Tony Kushner's "Lincoln," David O. Russell's "Silver Linings Playbook" and Stephen Chbosky for "Perks of Being a Wallflower."
I've seen Pi, SLP, Lincoln, Looper, Master and Moonrise--6 out of 10--and hope to see all the rest within the next couple of weeks.
Pleased to see Moonrise get a nod here, even if it's still mystifying it didn't get an Art Directors' Guild nomination (given its gorgeous and incredibly intricate designs, that were crucial to the film). Of the ones I'd seen, I'd give Silver Linings a nod in the Adapted category, and I'm still undecided about the Originals--Leaning toward Moonrise or Looper (as with The Master, its main debit is a flawed third act) so far.
